Nothing recovered, but it used to work

I've used Recuva numerous times, in fact I've used it on the specific HDD image I am working on now. It worked like a charm before, but now it comes up with nothing?

The HDD image is not the problem as other programs (Disk Digger) can find the data, but Recuva pulled up intact documents from this disk before, and now it comes up with nothing.

Btw - this is a disk that was formatted. Imaged with Linux dd and the images is on its own partition with nothing else but some extra space for recovered file storage. (Recuva is on my C drive, trying to recover from image stored on my E drive).

I already went into actions and checked all the options for finding hidden files, deep scan, etc. Recuva does say it is ignoring files.

Any suggestions? Thanks ahead of time.

Edit: The main difference is I am now working on a machine using Windows 7. Imaged HDD is XP.

Does using an earlier version of Recuva yeld different results??

Hi Nancy, and welcome to Piriform.

Just so I understand correctly, are we talking here about retrieving data from a Disk Image Backup, made by something like Macrium Reflect or Acronis True Image, or similar?

If so, it's usually possible to mount an Image as a drive, which will then appear in "My Computer" as a normal drive, which you can explore and extract files from as you would a normal drive.

If I'm wrong, and have misread the problem, my apologies. If I'm right, which program was used to create the Image?
