First time user of Recuva, just installed latest version.
Have not deinstalled norton unerasse feature yet, since I need to make sure reduva works well. Tested it by asking recuva to find a dll file that I had deleted several hours ago.
did a search on .dll and
a search without any string, and
a search by file name PolyImage2.dll
Found a lot of dll files, but did not find the one in question.
Is there a way for me to determine why Recuva did not find the file?

Your file may have already been "overwritten" by other data you processed since deleting it.
Some files get overwritten very soon after being deleted.
You need a file way out in the boondocks on your disk.
You need to do some searching on the net as to how to test.Maybe something on forum also.

Do you have other Symantec software such as NPROTECT or something similar.?
I don't know all of the details but they "hide" files that have been "deleted" and then they can
"recover" those files.
So to be "fair" you need to compare Recuva to another recovery product other than the Symantec..
