I am having a very large difference in the # of files analyzed to be removed and actually removed. It is mostly the Admin\local settings\temp folder. Last attempt to clean showed about 450MB to be removed buyt only 0.3MB was. After cleaning I can run analyze again and it will show 0 needs to be cleaned - until I close CCleaner and open it again - then it showes the 450MB needs removed again! I am also cocerned about these files being in a hidden folder. Some files are DLL ,Lang ,MozUpdater (Thunderbird) , WER (Dr. Watson ) , and Int Explorer (IMT.xml script files- a lot of these ). I opened several different files and some say their deletion may damage system operation . I don't think your product would delete these though. I don't think the recycle bin was cleaned at last attempt either. My OS is Win XP SP3 by the way.- only 512MB of RAM. Could this be part of problem - XP is getting iffy. Also I haven't upgraded to your newest free version. thanks - hope you can clarify for me
definitely upgrade to the latest version.
as to XP, that's still fine with CC.
as to the settings in CC, have you got "only delete files older than 24 hours" ticked in Options, Advanced?
I unchecked the only older than 24 hour box and it deleted all but 12MB of the 266MB in the temp folder according to the Windows folders. It said there was 255MB to delete but it deleted 473MB or 481MB it showed deleted from system-temporary files in the details section - whichever is correct. I don't exactly know where all the extra was deleted from but the Apps folder in Local Settings now shows 0 bytes per Windows but I don't remember what it was before. It didn't clean the recycle bin for some reason though. Anyway this is a big improvement I think and I will download newest version. Still don't understand why that helps. That many files should not be less than 24hrs. old - should they? thanks a bunch!
the new version may help because it may have 'new features' or 'bug fixes' that cover the very area of concern you have.
you won't know until you try, then see if it helps.
if the Recycle Bin is still not being cleaned after the update, see this; http://forum.piriform.com/index.php?showtopic=42673&p=257977
