not deleting contents of index.dat files

Hello,

So I have looked and not found an answer.

A couple of times a month I run my CCleaner. Windows xp, IE8

After the last time, I updated with 312, I have no idea what it replaced.

Now when it runs, it doesn't seem to recognize the contents of the index.date files nor clean them.

Any thoughts?? Markie O

CC only cleans a relatively few important (i.e. active) index.dat files. Those that are locked by Windows, for example in Temp Internet Files, are cleaned but not deleted, and those that are able to be deleted, foe example in History, are. There are lots of small applications that let you look inside index.dat files, so you could use one of those to check what's being cleaned.

I understand that it designed to clean active dat file like cookies and history and IE5 but it is not!!!

Otherwise I wouldn't ask the question. The file size is not base. The program doesn't any longer even recognize the files.

So somebody has changed something in their programming so that somebody's programming is non-functional. Thanks for your consideration.

Whilst I don't get anything showing on Analyse, on my sys I can use Notepad to see what's inside C:/Documents and Settings/Me/Local Settings/Temporary Internet Files/Content.IE5/Index.dat, then run CC Clean Temporary Internet Files, then open ....../Index.dat again and it's empty. If you do this is your Index.dat uncleaned?

No, it doesn't appear uncleaned,,.The file is still recorded as 8,880KB for IE5. I guess that's were the concern arose...

Plus the cleaner doesn't register the fact that the Dat files are full and doesn't clean when dat box is the only one checked. Nice. Thanks for the insight..

you might want to try: http://www.glarysoft...lary-utilities/

Removed 312 and intalled 232 and all functions as in the past. Go figure.
