when is next upgrade? what about windows locked files?
Typically there's a new version released every month or thereabouts. And since version 2.22 was released on July 28, 2009 I suspect another is forthcoming however I don't know exactly when it will be released. Follow the Announcements area of the forums, or regularly visit the official CCleaner download page.

If I wish to remove a file and it is locked, I will think twice about the wisdom of fighting Windows and Google for extra information upon this file.
An automatic junk cleaner would be very slow if it took that much care.
I consider the only valid reason for a tool to automatically delete locked files is when exterminating malware.
