Newest version of CCleaner 7 not starting with windows startup or showing up in system tray

After automatically updating to the newest version of CCleaner it is no longer starting up with windows 11 startup and I can’t even find a way to add it. Plus it isn’t showing up in the system tray even though it is checked to do so. Personally I hate the new interface and prefer the older version.

I am having a similar problem. Ccleaner is starting on my systems (3 Windows 11 Pro 24H2), but the system tray icon does not appear. I can make it appear by opening Ccleaner and toggling the System Tray Icon button off and back on in settings, but it again fails to appear at the next system restart. I have repaired Ccleaner and removed and reinstalled it several times on all three machines to no avail.

When you say that Ccleaner does not automatically start at boot, have you verified that in Task Manager. My systems show that Ccleaner and Ccleaner Services are both running. However, it is not shown as a startup program or process. It appears to be started from the Task Scheduler with an entry to run “C:\Program Files\Pirirorm\CCleaner 7\CCleaner.exe” with the arguments “$/Arg0)”. Note that the quotation marks are not part of the argument, merely delineation from the rest of the sentence and the period. The interesting thing about this Scheduler entry is that no trigger is specified yet it seems to work and “Last Time Run” always coincides with my last boot date and time. I have futzed around with that entry in Task Scheduler to see it makes any difference to the System Tray Icon issue, but nothing I’ve done to it made any difference, so I returned it to the original format.

I contacted Ccleaner Support and a ticket was issued. I was informed that someone would contact me by email. That was about a week ago and I haven’t heard anything since.

If you find a solution, please post it.

I also requested help but have not heard back. I ended up uninstalling CCleaner 7 and going back to 6.39 The more I looked into it and looked at other topics people including myself are hating CCleaner 7.

I have not yet reverted to 6.39. I sort of like the way this works (once I got used to it) as it does seem faster, but I may revert. I’m waiting for 25H2 to come out and see if that makes any difference.

I believe that I’ve found the problem and, for me, it’s the way that CCleaner 7 adds the icon to the system tray. I use Explorer Patcher to enable the Windows 10 taskbar so I can have a larger taskbar. I think that CCleaner is invoking the taskbar early in the process and when EP changes the taskbar, the CCleaner icon is lost. I’ve noticed in the past that restarting Windows Explorer with EP will result in the loss of several icons, so I suspect that CCleaner is also one of those that will not automatically restore to the taskbar when that happens. All of the others will come back up on a reboot, but the disappearance of CCleaner icon on a reboot suggests that it loads so early in the process that it is lost when EP is activated. I don’t know if there is a way that CCleaner can implement the system tray icon that will work around this or if Piriform gives a hoot about doing such a thing. I have still heard nothing back from support regarding this issue. I am seriously thinking about reverting to 6.39 at this point and looking for other software when my two year subscription expires. I will give it another week or so to make a decision, probably based upon whether I hear anything from support.

I solved the system tray problem for me. At logon, I run a batch file which terminates CCleaner Services and I changed the CClean 7 service in services.msc to automatic delayed. The batch file then waits for two minutes while the rest of the services and initial programs start (which gives the system time enough on my machine for the delayed run of CCleaner Services) and then uses an elevated command prompt to start CCleaner.exe and then close it. This allows CCleaner to run and includes the icon in the system tray. The only thing I do use that is not standard Windows is the elevate64.exe program which is available as a free utility at How to start programs elevated from a batch file . I use it to run the taskkill commands from a normal batch file.

Same problem as well as not being able to update apps. Error code 3. Spent hours on that no luck. I have bought a subscription and have used the software for years, never had these 2 problems before

Same Problem, nothing happens, {Competition Software} works good.
