Will try this solution
I was ready to uninstall CCleaner because it hijacked my browser, Firefox. Hey, CCleaner: NO ONE LIKES TO HAVE TO READ "THE SMALL PRINT!!!" It was very rude to have such a small, unnoticeable box prechecked. Very rude indeed and like MB Sprinter, I don't have time to screw around fixing something that shouldn't have happened in the first place. May your day be filled with having to fix things that you weren't personally responsible for!
I urge you not to uninstall CCleaner - it is an excellent product.
Just uninstall the CCleaner browser and correct the file type association.
I'm livid. I have Windows 7 and I uninstalled CC Cleaner. Thanks for taking my money and ruining my files, BTW.
I need my pdfs and even after I uninstalled they are still html files. Now what?

Right- click on a pdf file and select 'open with'
Then select what you want to open them with and tick where it says 'always use this to open pdf's'

I have about the same issue! My files are saving as ccleaner.... HELP!!
All of the sudden, any document that I download and save, saves as ccleaner. The only other choice is "all files". I can't have this. I work from home and do tons of research.
It sounds like you have inadvertently downloaded CCleaner Browser, which has associated your files with the browser.
Almost all newly installed browsers will do this and reassociate how files are opened.
The possible inadvertent downloading of CC Browser will become less possible shortly (in a few weeks we are told) but can still be annoying for now.
What can you do about it?
This talks about PDF files - but it is the same process for any other file that has been reassociated.
You just have to set the file association back to whichever programme you want to open those files with:
I need more instructions on how to fix this. I am not a computer wiz.... Please help!

I've already answered you here: https://forum.piriform.com/topic/55455-ccleaner-browser-pdf-files/?tab=comments#comment-312287
PS. There is no need to ask a question more than once in different places, once is enough to get an answer (if someone knows).
This is so unacceptable. No credible app should ever hijack your files. Whatever excuse that is given is, again, unacceptable. I used to recommend CCleaner to people but will no longer be doing that and will be deleting it from all of my electronics.
