New search engine.

Will there be a feature coming when we can have our own preferences in searching, just like how Google does it. In my case though, I want to search in Internet Sites by default. Skipping that part, overall I'm impressed with yauba. All I've dreamed of what Google should become are in this fantastic search engine. It still hasn't failed me giving the right searches. It just seemed to me as Google, only better.

I would like to see the default search as internet. Plus the ability to select which country to search

I second the guys above. Having the Internet as the default would be preferable.

I do wish Yauba worked with SiteAdvisor's "safe icons", however SiteAdvisor is wrong many times flagging sites incorrectly.

Anyway to make Yauba show just the internet results?

Not by default, but you can pick "Internet Sites" from the dropdown menu before you start your search.

I'm pretty sure Sameer will be back to check out the feedback, so maybe they'll consider making that menu item the default setting.

I'd like to have an option for enabling clustering. There are far too many results in the "Internet Sites" section that show multiple links for a single website (where sometimes\often the second result is irrelevant or superfluous).

Hi Everyone,

Thanks for all of your feedback and suggestions on different default options. It is really great to get such valuable advice, and we are really grateful for your taking the time to do so.

Based on your suggestions, we are planning to create different default options that can be accessed directly via an appropriate URL. This will take some time for our engineering team to put together, but we are considering having subdomains, such as http://web.yauba.com, or http://pdf.yauba.com from which you can search Internet sites or pdf files, etc. directly, without having to use the drop down menu. As you know, since we do not use cookies, we think this is the best way to meet your needs and wishes while still repecting your privacy.

As for clustering, we do use some clustering technologies, part of which we use for our search refinement options (e.g. when you click on See More Internet Sites) and we plan to add a suggested search option as well on the main consolidated results pages. We are still experimenting with the user interface to see how best we can leverage these technologies without overwhelming the user.

Please continue let us know your thoughts, and please do keep the suggestions coming! We are very thankful for your valuable advice in helping to shape this service. Also, please watch this space if you have and French speaking friends ... we will be launching a French language version of the Yauba beta release in the upcoming weeks. :)

Thanks once again

Sameer

VP, Yauba

[*]As of yesterday, our main Indian site http://www.yauba.co.in was the 13,263th most visited site in the world!

[*]Also as of yesterday, our other, non Indian site http://www.yauba.com was the 26,322th most visited site in the world!

This suggests that, taken together, we have already become a global top 10,000 site online just 1 week after our late alpha release.

Good for you. You deserve it. :D Anyone who is working to improve internet privacy deserves all the credit they get. Also many thanks to Hazelnut for passing it on.

really cool and good looking SE

I noticed something odd, in combination with FF Adblock plus.

- Searched for: cry me a river

- Opened the Adblock window (the "blockable" links)

- This link was visible in that window: http://images-partners-tbn.google.com/imag...-me-a-river.jpg

- As soon as I clicked that link (in Adblock), the Yauba page was modified, i.e. at first the image was not shown, but after clicking the link it was.

This seems to be a direct link to Google. Why was it "hidden" at first? And what good is a Privacy Safe search engine when\if Google is involved like this?

I repeated your steps and I can't replicate the issue, the only images in ABP are the yauba ones

Click this image a few times to get the normal size and you'll see. By the way, I have "Filtered Search" turned off (perhaps that makes a difference).

If this is normal, then you can wave your privacy goodbye with Yauba.
