netdetect.exe

Every time i turn on my computer it pops up that netdetect.exe is missing and I am asked to verify if it exists, but it doesn't exist.

Could someone tell me how I can fix the problem???? I already tried with CCleaner but it still pops up!!! plese help me!!!

thank you for your attention....

It sounds like you have been infected with a virus... However before I jump to conclusions I would have a read here:

Before you Post!

And then post a thread in the Spyware Hell section of the forums. :) Hope you get that issue resolved.

Welcome to Piriform Spirit.

Exactly as Keith says, it could be a Malware infection.

Or there's the possibility that it's a component of Norton Internet Security 2005 which isn't used anymore. It was made defunct by an update, but the task it was connected to may still be running.

If you are running Norton Internet Security 2005, have a read here:

If not, go with Keiths advice ASAP.

Same as what Keith and Dennis said, but i'm pretty sure its a backdoor trojan that is imitating NTDETECT.COM. I had a similar issue with a process WINLOGO.EXE ( No typo) imitating winlogon.exe
