Need help enabling driver

I ran CCleaner on my computer a few days ago and I just found that the driver for my DVD/CD rom is disabled. I am assuming that it was disabled by CCleaner to not start when the computer starts. My question is how do I enable this driver so I can use the drive. I have tried uninstall and restart, downloaded the latest driver from the manufacturer, but it will not install. I get an error message that "the drive cannot be found using this method".

Please help, Daughter needs to write a powerpoint presentation to cd for school.

That almost sounds like something disabled in the computer BIOS which CCleaner wouldn't be able to change anything in.

You can go into the BIOS and make sure the CD/DVD drive is enabled in there.

Something else; when my Plextor DVD writer drive was starting to fail it sometimes wouldn't be detected and thus wouldn't be listed in My Computer and couldn't be used at all. The only way I could get the computer to recognize it would be to actually shut down the PC, then start it up (aka Cold Boot the system).
