MSRT works

The monthly Malicious Software Removal Tool that runs from the Windows Updates has issued the results for April. They make interesting reading showing how many computers were cleaned and furthur down the page which operating systems were most affected.

Too bad they don't report the "bitness" of the infected computers.

PatchGuard is supposed to fight rootkits by disallowing any kernel patch, so theoretically it is much more difficult to write an x64 rootkit.
