Installed .NET 3.5 and a couple of connected updates and it no longer appears.
In line with what you posted above marmite, the KB953300 now has a DWORD with the value of 1, and is no longer amongst the list of updates it was in previously.
So why don't I get a DWORD then - I'm jealous. More Microsoft mysteries
