Hello to all,
I use Spybot Search and Destroy 1.6.0.30, and of course at the end of the scan I get a list of usage tracks and registry entries that Spybot said is safe to remove.
I have always wondered why some "safe to remove" things "show up" on other programs but not on CCleaner. I've been investigating these today and I discovered a few errors on the part of:
"Add A Program To Winapp2.ini, Add additional programs to CCleaner"
http://forum.piriform.com/index.php?showtopic=1110
Reviewing what is listed there:
[*MS Direct Draw]
LangSecRef=3021
Detect=HKCU\Software\Microsoft\DirectDraw
Default=True
RegKey1=HKCU\Software\Microsoft\DirectDraw\MostRecentApplicationName
This registry entry has a couple of errors. In XP SP3, the entry should be:
[Direct Draw API]
LangSecRef=3022
Detect=HKLM\Software\Microsoft\DirectDraw
Default=True
RegKey1=HKLM\Software\Microsoft\DirectDraw\MostRecentApplication\Name
1.) In XP SP3, the registry entry is under HKLM - not - HKCU.
2.) The entry is missing a "\" inbetween: MostRecentApplication"\"Name
3.) This entry does not show up on the Analysis Complete section, even after correction.
4.) This entry should be included in the "Registry Integrity" section, not the Programs section.
5.) I would consider renaming the entry to: Direct Draw API

I always wondered why Direct Draw usage tracks always showed up at the end of a Spybot scan!
Just a heads up.
Take care,
