missing dvd codec in windows media player

After running the registry fix on CCleaner on a Dell Inspiron 1525 I can no longer play DVD movies in media player 11 on vista basic.

It says missing DVD codec. I have tried installing free codecs but still does not work.

It suggests I lower my screen resolution. Also movie will play in other video players just not WMP 11.

Please Help

Do a System Restore and it should resolve your registry problems, if you've cleaned out your restore points then I cannot help you.

Since it's Dell do you have a Cyberlink PowerDVD install disc? Dell's been known for years to use Cyberlink, so reinstalling it should fix the missing codec, re-register it so any media playback software that can play DVDs can use it.
