Minitube

Minitube is a YouTube desktop application.

With it you can watch YouTube videos in a new way: you type a keyword, Minitube gives you an endless video stream.

Minitube is not about cloning the original YouTube web interface, it aims to create a new TV-like experience.

It's a neat little program I must say, and the fact that it doesn't use Flash makes everything a whole lot faster and smoother.

Had a little go with it (in a sandbox of course :)) It does look and sound remarkably good. I know it's not free and this is a trial version but I enjoyed looking at it...thanks.

Here is a screenshot of it. Obviously the video is missing in the screenshot but I can asure you it was there and the quality was good.

Interesting. What if the video it self is flash, is there some conversion process?

Lol, I had no idea you had to buy it for the Windows and Mac versions. The Linux version is completely free.

Hazel, I am not 100% for sure on this, but I believe the reason the video did not capture, is the Direct-X layering.

If you turn off the hardware acceleration functions momentarily, I believe it will capture the video screen, also.

Maybe this is something that does not help you with this problem specifically, but it may help you in a future Print Screen event.

I have hardware acc. turned off in Opera (as part of troubleshooting something)

I'm not investing time at the moment in making videos appear in a screenie, (much too busy) I only mentioned it so readers knew that the video was really there.

I think you have to turn off hardware acceleration in Windows itself.

They have hardware acceleration in the browser, & also in Windows.

You can do this under Advanced in the Display settings.

That seems to be the norm for said OSes, sadly!
