Hey. Thanks for the heads up. Any changelog?
According to MS download page there isn't any WinXP version. Maybe XP support was dropped.

Not surprising. There has been quite a push to drop Windows XP everywhere lately.

I have it installed on XP via the Microsoft Update website which offered it.
Any changes that you can see?

Yes. I think it only displays version for the current Operating System (using 7).

There's this new setting in the screenshot (at least on WinXP), other than that I don't know what they've did:
Could anyone add the version number to the post title?
That option is present under win7 too.
The reason I didn't put the version number in the title was because of this, so as to not cause confusion:
When I posted it was at v4.2.223.0, then a few hours later Automatic Updates told me there was a v4.2.223.1 but it wouldn't let me install it and stopped offering v4.2.223.1 which I assume maybe isn't XP compatible but I can't confirm that yet since they don't even have a standalone setup .EXE available with the new version yet.
(edit) oops.
I have MSE installed in a WinXP VM and after this week's updates, the ver is 4.2.223.0 and the Engine ver is 1.1.9103.0
I did not get any further MS update notification of a newer version.
KB2804527: http://support.micro....com/kb/2804527 It doesn't mention any specific OS (XP, Vista, 7, etc.)
The new v4.2.223.0 setup .EXE file is now available at:
File is corrupt?
Nope. I downloaded the XP and Seven versions and they were okay. I will try the XP version today on a newly formatted XP machine to see if it's better than previous versions, by the way.
File is corrupt?
Digital signature reads as valid on my system, although I didn't run the file since I already have that version installed from Microsoft Updates.
The hashes for mseinstall.exe (32-bit, English, Windows XP version) is:
MD5 = 40260AF3A7B4F412D77A1A5209847BE2 SHA-1 = FC6118CECADA8B5DBB8A1459C85B0420CB755F6A
Download new installer to downloads folder.
Right-click on installer and select run as admin

You can check the file CRC with Total Commander for instance. I bet maybe 7-zip can do the same.
I bet maybe 7-zip can do the same.
It can if you browse to the file via 7-Zip File Manager and then right-click and select Calculate Checksum. But CRC/CRC32 and even MD5 isn't considered secure anymore.
HashMyFiles from Nirsoft gives SHA1 and up to SHA-512 for those concerned with MD5 faking exploits.
