Which is better?
A verses B threads usually end up with some people just saying A and some saying B.
You may get more useful replies by phrasing your question differently, such as has anyone any tips when using either of these softwares, and perhaps state which browser you use.
Or ask if anyone is using either of the softwares and would like to share their experiences of using them.
They're both pretty good, but I'm using WOT right now since I don't want to install SiteAdvisor. They used to have SiteAdvisor as a FF extension, but for some reason it's gone now, so I'm using WOT.
Using WOT. Sometimes it gets annoying with its icons/circles on some email --- mainly my Newegg newsletter, cause it breaks everything up. That's the only reason I turn it off. It is great except for that.
But I have no experience with McAfee. I dislike their antivirus programs so much, that I won't give it a try .

I use siteadvisor because i thought wot was too annoying
WOT is much more accurate than SiteAdvisor. It can take SA months before a site is rated or re-rated even if you bring it directly to their attention. WOT only takes minutes. There are many Green sites on SA and both WOT and Nortons Safe Web have them accurately rated Red.Even if every comment on SA is saying that a site has the wrong rating it goes without notice. WOT relies on community ratings. Just look at their forum and you will see. http://www.mywot.com/en/forum
Although it doesn't have the full features, WOT has a shortcut icon, which enables it to be used in Opera, which is a no no for SiteAdvisor, which I wouldn't use anyway. (That was a mouthful)

That's why I installed FEBE and made my own SiteAdvisor XPI installer for version 26.6 for later installation, etc., since I never intend on updating ever again since it's no longer a standalone Firefox only add-on.
I'd use WOT however I've tried it on three separate occasions and never really liked it - to each their own.
I'd like to see Trend Micro finally release a Firefox version of TrendProtect, however at the moment it only supports IE which I don't use.

Hi Andavari. Thanks for the last version of Siteadvisor Plug-in for Firefox! After 'accidentally' updating to the installer version, I've been hunting for the plug-in version but to no avail, and at last I found it here.

It isn't my software, I only made the XPI installer using FEBE so do what you want with it.

Go to this page and find the blue highlighted "dragging this link to your bookmarks" link. Although following the instructions on that page of how to do that just doesn't work.

Right click the link itself, and select "open in new tab". You should have a blank page with a long javascript address in it.
Right click an empty section of the Tab Bar and select "customize".
Drag the "Javascript" tab across to the right until you get a plus sign, which means you can then place it. Click the shortcut to activate it, and click it again to deactivate.

I've reverted back to SA 26.6 but when I update my add-ons, the update for SA(28.0) will naturally appear and notify me about it.
But how do stop it from notifying me? It adds a yellow 'up-arrow' to the add-on icon in the add-on window, as well as the 'updates' tab...
Is there a way to stop this notifying per add-on?
Okay, looks like I've found the way to revert back SA 26.6 but avoid the 'new update found' problem...

Basically, it is opening the .xpi file in a zip program(extract all contents), locate the install.rdf file and remove the line that points to the update site, then repackage the file back to a .xpi file. Install it as usual(drag into a Firefox window) and try updating. There should be no updates for SA 26.6.

That worked like a charm, and I can't thank you enough for posting the information! It has finally solved the nuisance of always being super careful not to update by accident.
I've also updated the XPI installer I have in this post, re-tested and it works fine.
