Malicious use of C Cleaner

Hi all

After an employee left our offices we note that he used C Cleaner to wipe all files and applications from a laptop.

has anyone any suggestions as to ways of recovery/list of files deleted/log of when this occured?

It's irritating to know what's happened but no way of proving it.

Thanks for your time

Jason

CCleaner doesn't wipe all files and applications, just junk data some create. Thats not to say its not possible, he could have added them all as custom folders and removed them that way.

You could try using Recuva (from the makers of Cleaner) to see if any deleted files are recoverable but if he used CCleaners secure deletion, or if he actualy used another program altogether with secure deletion, there may be nothing to find. Heres the link anyway:

I would recommend you download File Scavenger. On the Quetek website, look for the download link and find "For installation on a portable storage device" so you can just run that .exe file. If you are in Vista, righ click "run as administrator." Then you can run the deep scan that goes further than defraggler does. Besides that, you may need to send the hard drive to a recovery service, or have those people come down.
