Macrium Reflect Restoration:

This is just a FYI thread for the guys using, or thinking about using Macrium Reflect (Home Version).

I restored my System Drive backup "Image" this morning with no problems at all. Of course I chose the safe options when doing this, i.e. "Verifying" the Image before restoring, and doing a System File Check after.

Both of these options are configurable with Macrium as you go through the process. The backup was 12gb split into 3 DVD sized chunks on my Partition, from where I restored it. I also have it on 3 DVD's just in case. This uncompressed to 16gb on the drive.

I used the Macrium "Linux" boot disk to do the Restore, which is simplicity itself, and even ejects itself when it's loaded into memory.

Once I'd set it away, the verifying took about 20 minutes, and the actual Restore just over 1 hour.

It's nice to know that I have a backup "Image" that actually works. Damned fine piece of FREE software.
