SO I get a notification box for a new version, and as I trust Piriform, I just clicked install. Got a lot of new contract language but just blew thru it- big mistake. The down load from FIleHippo contained all sort of crapware - was very disappointed to see this.
FileHippo changed its download method / process / policy quite a while ago and if you don't double check what you click on to start your download you either get their Download Manager equivalent or some other sort of bundled download/software package.
Some of their download buttons are ads, or legit software pre-wrapped with some crapware.
Seems to be an OK site to still use with the Adblock Plus extension.
The only guaranteed site (as much as these things can be guaranteed) is the official Piriform download page to get your builds from.
In other words, use FileHippo with care. Same as CNET, SourceForge and all those traditional download sites. They are all chasing the revenue dollar.
