I have got a similar issue. Since I did the driver udpate in CC cleaner (in december), my sound and microphone is no longer working. Making it unable for me to do digital meetings for example :(. I have been trying to fix it myself, but nothing seems to work. I took among others the following steps:
- Recovery in CC cleaner (says it can't recover Intel® Smart Sound Technology (screenshot included)
- Performing all of the recommended Lenovo audio driver updates
- Installing Realtek HD audio manager (I have installed everything I could potentially install).
Nothing seems to work. I cannot even find the audio symbol at device manager. I need a solution soon.

Can you right click on the device under device management & choose roll back driver? If not then try installing an older driver manually:
You might have to reinstall an older driver via the device’s entry within device manager if it doesn’t show then check under View>Show hidden devices.
Right click device.
Choose update driver.
Choose ‘browse my computer for drivers’.
Choose ‘let me pick from a list of available drivers on my computer’.
Choose the compatible hardware from the list, then choose next.
Choose one of the older drivers from the list shown, then click next.
This will then reinstall the driver.
I have the same issue. CCleaner is telling me the driver is faulty and I should revert it to a previous version but it doesn’t actually let me select it. Now my laptop has no audio at all unless I connect an external monitor.
I had the same problem… My Lenovo extended warrenty did a recovery. I have the sound issue resolved but now I can’t open File Explorer or Word or Excel.
Did you get any solutions from ccleaner?
They requested a bunch of technical info about my laptop but haven’t gotten back to me.
