I have 2 computers both running Vista/IE7. Both have yahoo toolbar installed. When I run CCleaner I loose all Yahoo buttons on one, but not the other. If I uncheck the box for cleaning "temporary internet files" in the one loosing the buttons I don't lose them (but I also accumulate a lot of internet detrius).
I've tried to find a difference between the two installations (they were both upgrades from XP), but can't find anything that explains the difference. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.
Yes, I like the toolbar, I'm just trying to understand why one system "cleans" properly and the other doesn't. Once I understand why, I can fix the one that removes the buttons.
Its because the yahoo toolbar makes you log in to keep your custom buttons. You should be able to log in again and your buttons would go back to the way you have them. This is sort of their way of tracking what you do with the toolbar by linking it to a log in.
Thats why not cleaning temporary files leaves them alone, I don't think they use a cookie to do this(I could be wrong, check your cookies, so) so there may be no other way than not cleaning temp files.

I don't think I'm being clear. Yes, I understand about logging in, and the use of cookies. I have two systems that function differently, although they appear to be configured identically. In reviewing registry entries there are differences between the two systems probably related to their history (one is newer than the other). It seems that in one system the information for the buttons is kept in a file that is "cleaned" while it the other it is kept in a different location. Any ideas?
