Losing log in info

After running scans I have to re-login many websites - is there any way of keeping these?
Also, does it affect bookmarks (lost mine).

Hi ShirleyM:

What is your Windows operating system, default browser, and current CCleaner version? Do you recall what CCleaner feature you ran (e.g., Health Check, Custom Clean, etc.) that caused your passwords and/or bookmarks to disappear?

If you are having problems with Firefox after running CCleaner v7.0x see my 10-Jan-2026 comments in nihilistic’s Unwanted changes in Firefox behaviour after running CCleaner. Suej’s 03-Sep-2025 Lost bookmarks includes a few suggested fixes for recovering lost Firefox bookmarks.

Hi-not sure if my reply was sent so sorry if repeating. I’m using Windows 11, default browser Firefox & latest version of CCleaner. I ran all the features. I see in your links that others have had this problem & being the latest version of CCleaner being the cause so will try to find out how to revert back to the old version & not have it updated automatically. I was looking for an option to save sites that were already logged on to not have to re-do as I remember long ago this option was available-am I missing this somewhere? I found a video to help with restoring the bookmarks but not the previous tabs that were on Firefox. Is this problem with the bookmarks going to be fixed?

Thanks,

Shirley

to whom is this aimed, we’re all users on this forum and the one or two representatives of support only come here rarely, and to my knowledge have not mentioned that they have bug chasers on it (though my memory could well be improved on the subject).
CCleaner also seems to be sticking to its released once a month schedule and rarely if ever do hotfixes, that said a January release should be soon (I hope) though whether it’s going to include a fix for something posted yesterday I doubt.

Thanks for the info.

Hi ShirleyM:

Glad to hear you were able to recover your Firefox bookmarks. I assume you followed the instructions in the YouTube video at How to restore Firefox bookmarks you mentioned in your 11-Jan-2026 post in NicolaB’s I accidentally cleaned Firefox bookmarks!.

Instructions for downgrading to CCleaner v6.39 are posted in nukecad’s 11-Oct-2025 topic How to Roll Back from v7 to v6.39 to downgrade to CCleaner v6.39.

I’m not sure what specific feature you mean by ‘save sites that were already logged on to” unless you are using Firefox’s built-in Password Manager to automatically fill usernames and passwords for logins, but in the previous CCleaner v6.x you can prevent CCleaner from cleaning items like cookies, passwords, site preferences, browser history, etc. in Firefox by disabling those items in Custom Clean ** …

… and/or go to Options | Cookies | Cookies to Keep and choose important “Cookies to Keep” if you use CCleaner to clean your browser cookies. Unfortunately, the “Cookies to Keep” feature does not work correctly in the current CCleaner v7.03 - see hmsccleaner’s 18-Dec-2025 topic CCleaner V7.3 “Keep Cookies” from trusted sites does not work.

** NOTE: I stopped using CCleaner to clean my default Firefox browser a few years ago after a bug in CCleaner damaged several Firefox browser extensions (see circcc’s 01-Jul-2020 topic Problem with Firefox 79) so all options for cleaning Firefox are disabled in my CCleaner v6.39 Custom Clean settings. Instead, I use my built-in Firefox settings at Privacy & Security | History to automatically clear most of my browsing history (e.g., cookies and site data, etc.) each time I exit Firefox - see the Mozilla support article Delete browsing, search and download history on Firefox.
