i have downloaded latest update into vista ,with one second left in download a pop up window asks if i want to continue/install.I press continue the pop up goes away and then -nothing.I check my CCleaner file and its still the old version.Somehow i installed the first version OK what am i doing wrong/not doing this time?

Just to clear things up are you are choosing save, not run when downloading the new version of CCleaner?

Where are you downloading it from?

thanks for reply hazelnut,Ihave tried both run and save and have used hippofile(?) and an alternative option both directly from the CCleaner update home page

To use CCleaner you have to save it to your desktop and install it before use.

Choosing run when offered the download box on a website will not install CCleaner onto your computer.

When you have the setup on your desktop ready to install, is it called something like ccsetup.141.exe or just CCleaner.exe?

hazelnut, Ive got to the stage where i hit install for ccset up and then it asks to open or remove,i hit open and it disappears with no action. I have now found it in my files folder but when i try to open the folder it says my system does not support that type of file and then the file disappears from the folder.somehow my system accepted the original file though.

It may be a good idea to make sure you have no instance of CCleaner on your computer, download the setup to your desktop (by choosing save) and double click it and it should install.

Try downloading the slim build (if English is your first language) from here

Remember to choose save not open when downloading.
