just cccleaner and my internet connection disappears, locked in airplane mode

Hey guys.

I used cccleaner for the first time and it pretty much deleted my internet connection. I can't connect to the internet now. Running windows 10 and the wifi is missing and locked in airplane mode. Can anyone help me?

Did you do a registry clean? If so, did you make a backup?

Is your wifi still showing in the Device manager?

To get into Device Manager just click the Windows start flag bottom left of screen, and immediately type Device Manager (no need to use the search box)

I did, and I made a back up. My wireless network adapter is still under network adapters in device manager.

Have you tried double-clicking the backup to restore it? Or you can right-click on it and select merge.

Any luck after a restart of your machine?

I just double clicked the backup and restarted but still nothing.

Well, if it was my machine I would either restore an image, or if I didn't have one (which fortunately I do) I would try a system restore.

However what could also work is just right-click on your wireless adapter in the device manager and selecting 'uninstall device'. Then restart machine and Windows will re-install it again for you. (Just take a second look to make sure it's your wifi card :)

How do you restore an image?

Have you already made an image using a program such as Macrium Reflect ?

If you haven't then I'm afraid it won't help right now (but it's something you can do for the future :) )

Otherwise uninstall your wifi device from the device manager and restart your machine, or do a system restore to a time which was before your present problem.

I just uninstalled the wifi device from the devicr manager and restarted. Still nothing. I tried to do the system restore too but it had problems with shadow volume and when i fixed it it said there was no prior system restore saved.

If you right-click on the ccleaner reg back you made and select merge what happens? (any error messages)

No error messages. Successfully added.

But still no wifi after a restart?

When you click on the notification icon which is at the far right of your taskbar, is there the wifi option listed? Is airplane mode highlighted, can you switch it to wifi from there?

Airplane mode is highlighted but I can't switch to wifi. Oh and System Restore is saying something about an error with a Volume Shadow Copy component?

Okay time for some other troubleshooting options.

Thanks for these but they didn't help. I guess I'll have to go get my laptop fixed in the shop now. :/

Can you check in Services that the WLAN AutoConfig service is started and set to auto.

Click start button and type Services and click on 'name' header to sort the list alphabetically.

Also I'm guessing this is a laptop. Do you get internet connection if you plug in your ethernet cable directly to the laptop?

If all else fails a PC reset my be a much cheaper option that a repair shop and you can select to keep your files.
