Issue with Firefox - it won't display after CCleaner

I downloaded CCleaner and the next time I opened Firefox I let CCleaner do it's thing. since then Firefox site is not displaying. Task Manager shows it as in operation, but there is no screen being displayed. ???????????????????????????

and what happens after a reboot?

Nothing, tried everything, reloaded Firefox, still doesn't show a screen. Chrome works - so it's not all browsers, just firefox

It may help the devs and bug fixers if you mention:

* The CCleaner version you used.

* The Firefox version.

Can you say exactly what you did as it reads as if you used CC when Firefox was open.

Did you clean the registry?

have you tried making a new Firefox profile?

I can't get a Firefox screen up to to make a new profile. I had just loaded CCleaner that day. When I closed Firefox a CCleaner screen popped up to ask if I wanted to clean Firefox, I did it that way. C Cleaner is V 5.37.6309. I am not sure what the Firefox version was but I had auto updates so it must have been the current one.

there are few things to catch up on...

new FF from here; https://www.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/all/

new CC from here; <span style="font-size:11pt;line-height:107%;font-family:Calibri, sans-serif;"><a href="https://www.piriform.com/ccleaner/builds" rel="external nofollow">https://www.piriform.com/ccleaner/builds</a></span>

change FF profile instructions are;

Ok, I creqted a new profile and now I can see the browser but I have lost all ny bookmarks, etc some of which I use for work. Is there a way to get them back? BTW why did that work?

go to your old profile location (did you delete it or just create a new one?) which should be like this; C:\Users\your name\AppData\Roaming\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\old profile

(changing the bolded text accordingly)

firefox keeps auto backups of your bookmarks in the bookmarkbackups folder.

use Bookmarks &gt; Show all bookmarks &gt; Import &amp; Backup &gt; Restore &gt; Choose File

while you are in the old profile folder you may want to copy other files like places.sqlite, key3.db, cert8.db, cookies.sqlite

as to why it worked, the fact it did means the old profile was corrupted somehow, who can say why, it happens.

was there anything unusual in your CC usage, like do you have any enhancements, or have you changed the default settings?

did you run the reg cleaner?
