i am not sure if this can be done but it would be nice to be able to manually isolate specific files into bubbles of free space so that they can expand without bumping into their next door neighbors and fragmenting again
This might would work temporarily, especially on smaller drives with fewer files, but due to the way Windows has a hand in things, & the way Windows indiscriminately sorts files anywhere there is a free space gap, it would soon be cluttered again.
I see this as more a Windows problem, than a Defraggler problem.
Interesting idea, & something I would love (how great would it be to isolate windows system files to the beginning of the drive away from all other files & folders for a permanent thing?)
But while interesting in concept, it may be almost impossible to pull off.
Then, you have the problem that if all files & folders were given "bubbles" of free space... Let's just say that I have a 1 TB drive that has 900 GB used.
What happens if all files & folders have their own "bubbles" and all the 100 GB space left "dissappears" because it is being used by the bubble zones?
Of course, if this were something that were only applied to specific files & folders, such as Windows folders + a few user selected folders, there would be no problem. But here again, you have Windows that disobeys all known laws & drops files anywhere there is free space, destroying your bubble zoned layout!
I like the concept, just not sure it is possible!
