I updated to cc7 just to find that the recycle bin menu now misses the option to start ccleaner?
Instead, cc7 autostarts as a service which I don’t like so much.
I want total control and thus, I don’t want ccleaner always running in the background.
Invoking it from the recycle bin menu was very intuitive as cleaning and recycle bin are very much related, and it was a quick way to start the tool.
The Recycle Bin shortcuts have been reintroduced in the latest update, v7.6.
If you update your CCleaner7 to v7.6 then they should be back.
The only way to get v6 functionallity back is to reinstall the final v6 version, v6.39.
However that version is now 8 months old and will never be updated, parts of it have already stopped working properly and it will fall further behind as browsers and apps change over time.
If you do want to go back to v6.39 then see: How to Roll Back from v7 to v6.39
Follow ALL of the instructions there, particularly about turning off the Automatic Updating and deleting ‘CCupdate.exe’, if you do not follow the instructions then your newly rolled back CCleaner will just update to CCleaner7 again.
What has stopped working or no longer works OK in 6?
Maybe my question wasn’t clear enough.
I have updated from 6 to the latest 7.6 and found the recycle bin menu has changed.
In the past I had only run ccleaner manually. I did not start it automatically and not run it always in the background.
Thus, the recycle bin menu was the most intuitive invocation point for me.
There are 2 options on the recycle bin menu for ccleaner in v7 too, but no option to start it.
And what is even worse: There is no option to terminate it. Thus, it renders “run on demand” very awkward.
