Is it safe to stop defraggler while it is still running? It has been running for 26 hours and is only 63% complete. Runnig version 1.01.073 (Beta) on an XP SP3 machine
Thanks

Shouldn't hurt it - it'll simply be in less fragmented shape than before. If and when you restart, it'll just resume where it left off.
interrupting defraggler will not cause any problems because only when a file has be relocated will this information be written to the hard drive else it be discarded.

You can, and probably should stop. It amazes me that people will let a defrag run this long in the first place. If it's taking 6, 8, 12 hours or more that's not normal and it would be better to stop and try to figure out what's wrong. You might need to dump some unnecessary files and/or eliminate any partitions you might have. Defragging in Safe Mode can also slow things to a crawl; you get a more thorough defrag but sometimes you have to ask if it's worth it.
I suspect John's drive lacks a large enough free area, forcing some data to be moved numerous times.
Thanks everyone. I will stop it. It is now running 33 hours and is 70% defragged.
