Is it possible to add a registry defrag?

Well I'm asking whenever if it is possible to add a registry defrag to Ccleaner..

If you were to search the forum, you'd find this has been asked a number of times and everytime the answer is the same:

I take registry defrag != registry packing right?

I mean. Packing the registry using the eruNT tool is also a waste of time?

If you mean physically defragging registry hives on disk, you should post in the defraggler section instead.

Some corrections and observations:

  • ERUNT is a registry backup/restore tool.
  • NTREGOPT is the registry contents optimizer (by the same developer).
  • There are also various tools that compact the registry, which at the end may have adverse effects on the performance.
  • Defragmenting the registry hives/files is a good thing, and is probably already done by Defraggler.

AFAIK Defraggler does not defrag files in use by other programs or the OS. Not to be confused with reg compacting.

Over the years I found that while compacting the reg would save some disk space, it would create numerous file fragments. Even using Diskeeper would not defrag the reg files, so compacting them seemed pointless.

I had better performance leaving well enough alone.

There are some utilities that will compact and defrag upon a restart. But I realized I was spending too much time performing maintenance and less time being productive.

With the exception of getting a new pc and removing 12+ programs, I dont see the need to perform reg compact(s) on a repeated basis.
