Is it necessary to load the piriform website to download?

For program updates, I mean. It just seems like a bad use of resources. I get that there's an appeal to showing people the advantages to the paid upgrade, but couldn't that also be done through the program itself?

Don't get me wrong: love the product, longtime user, longtime spreader-of-the-word. Just asking an honest question: not with any malice :)

You can get autoupdate (update inside the program) if you pay for CCleaner (eg for Professional version).

Piriform's marketing and making you go to the web page for updates to the free version is pretty un-intrusive. Besides, it's always a good thing to see what else they have cooking and to get a summary of the changes by reading the change log.

I respect that and because of that I can easily recommend their warez without complaints of spam and nagging.

I remember a few years ago I used to recommend a "big name" anti-virus program quite often. And I always got complaints about the amount of tedious nagging and upgrades being spewed forth and all that. Needless to say "I" got tired of that and no longer recommend it.
