Is a clean install warranted when updating to version 5.00.5050?

Hello.

Regarding the installation of updates, Piriform has always advised that it is fine to install them right over the old ones. This month, however, instead of just another typical update being released, version 5.00.5050 was released instead. And version 5.00.5050 appears to be a major overhaul.

My question is this: With all of the changes in the new build of CCleaner, when I go to upgrade from the previous version to the new one, would a clean install, in this case, be warranted? Would you recommend doing that?

Or instead — is it okay to proceed as usual and to install version 5.00.5050 right over the top of version 4.19.4867?

Thank you.

You don't have to do a clean install. If you do however do a clean install you will completely lose all of your settings - that's the main reason it's always been recommended to install over a pre-existing version.
