Today i received an email from PayPal on behalf of CCleaner telling me I need to pay an invoice. However, when I checked my subscription it has just over a year left on it.
Can anyone tell me if I can safely ignore this email and if it has been sent in error can this problem be corrected.
I did try forwarding the email to the support email but apparently it is no longer monitored.
I would check your PayPal account - it sounds possible that you have set up a “Reccuring Payment” with PayPal.
If that is the case then it is PayPal themselves who are asking for another payment and not CCleaner.
If so then you will need to cancel it at PayPal:
We have seen similar happen numerous times, usually we see it when a subscription has been cancelled at CCleaner, but PP still asks for a recurring payment the next year, howevee the same could easily happen with a 2-year subscription if PayPal tries to take another (unneeded) payment in the second year.
I have been advised by CCleaner that the email I received is not a legitimate CCleaner email. This is a screen shot of the email to help others spot if they receive a similar email.
Thanks for sharing this @SJC1, I can see from this that the account requesting payment has a Gmail address, which is not an address CCleaner or our eCommerce partner Cleverbridge would ever use.
All I can advise you to do is report this to PayPal as a fraudulent payment request.
If you have any questions, please message me back.
