- The latest update of IE 11 contains an extra filter/pop up mesage which helps the computer user to shield from "Active content". All fine and well but now the user has deal with one more pop up message. And it (seems to) interfere(s) with typing text when I want to use e.g. the GOOGLE search engine. VERY annoying !!!!!!!

- I haven't quite figured out what to do about this. I hope this will get picked up by the "Customer Experience" software in Windows (7) and MS will remove it from the next IE update.

- Question: Does the Piriform forum use "Active content" of any kind ? Because when I visit this forum this (annoying) message does pop up as well.

I've been getting this for a while now with Firefox which also has an 'Active Content' filter.

As well as here it happens with any IP-board based forum that I visit, so it would seem to be the underlying Invision forum software. 

(Doesn't happen with vBulletin or Xenforo based forums).

I've not yet found a way to turn this annoying notification off.

EDIT

I've found the setting to stop these pop ups in Firefox. (Sorry can't help for IE but I'm guessing there will be a similar one).

Options > Privacy & Security > scroll down to permissions and select Notifications 'Settings' > Check (tick) 'Block new requests asking to allow notifications'.

I previously had these set by 'website which had requested to send notifications', which had stopped working, setting it for all sites has blocked them again.

works not on my ff esr.

you mean this?

extras (in english version perhaps options) -> settings -> content -> notifications -> choose --> there is nothing by me and no possibilities to change whatever

I think the one I gave is a new option in FFx v59.0. ??

If you still have v58 then you may not see it.

Probably why you don't see that opion then, ESR dose not have the latest features and improvements.

Anyway, enought of that. This is a thread about Internet Explorer not Firefox.

- The previous posts gave me some suggestions what to look for. But after changing some settings the nagging "Active content" pop-up message keeps popping up. I would assume that IE 11 would remember my preferences after a while. Perhaps I need to dig a little deeper (registry ???).

yes willy2, unfortunately by me too. it seems nothing to be for ages - only for one session or so... :(

- No, in IE 11 that nagging pop up message keeps popping up. No matter what I try. (Did I overlook something ?)

- When the user has installed a few "Cumulative Updates" & "Rollup Updates" (both for e.g. win 7 and for .NET software) then it seems that the the amount of files in the infamous "Winsxs" grows at a rapid pace (again). I ran the build-in "Cleanmanager" program ("cleanmgr.exe") 2 days ago and it was able to remove 1.42 GB worth of system files. Ouch !!!

i have login now with ie11 and w8.1 -> no popup on my screen... :)

perhaps i have different settings on mys

or the popup was fired :D

- I fear "Windows Update" on my Win 7 system is (a bit) "broken". Because the "MS catalogus update" website already has the "Windows 7 March Rollup Update Preview" but when I run "Windows Update" that one Preview update doesn't show up.

- I downloaded & installed the March 2018 Cumulative Update for IE 11. It was the second "Cumulative Update for IE 11" for this month. Did MS spot a "few bugs" in the 1st update released earlier this month ?

- No. Because I installed the latest "Cum. Update for IE 11" (KB4096040) first. After that I asked Windows Update to find more updates but it didn't find the March 2018 "Rollup Preview for Win 7". But this same Preview was available from the "MS Update catalogus" website.
