Sorry for the newbie question but I am curious if CCleaner adds registry entries to my Vista pc when I install it on my thumb drive; it does add itself to install/uninstall programs. I am looking for something that I can run from my thumb drive only and does not install anything on my pc.
This is probably a new topic but I noticed that it does not clean/recreate "all" the index.dat files in regards to the ones found in cookies, history etc.
C:\Documents and Settings\Me\Local Settings\Temporary Internet Files\Content.IE5\index.dat
C:\Documents and Settings\Me\Cookies\index.dat
C:\Documents and Settings\Me\Local Settings\History\History.IE5\index.dat
C:\Documents and Settings\Me\Local Settings\History\History.IE5\MSHist012008123120090101\index.dat
and leaves 10 others, but most if not all of these are not active. I am the only user so others may have more complex combination of index.dat files. I don't know how CC decides which to clean and which not to.

I does but it requires a computer restart (or maybe just a user logoff I don't know) to take effect
Locations are a little different in Vista as opposed to XP and it only cleaned 2 of the index.dat files and there are 2 (or more) that also contain information in regards to the Internet.
