Image File Recovery

I have a 500gb drive that was quick formatted and I had Recuva search for image files. It found many and most are not overwritten and marked excellent for recovery. I selected a few at random to recover and test. The recover copied them to another drive ok. However, they are not valid image files according to all of my image readers. Any ideas how to fix them?

what image viewers are you using?

other have reported good results with recovered images when using IrfanView (i think memory serves me well there)

even though marked as excellent, looks like there has been some corruption with the ones you selected.

have you tried another sample size to see how wide-spread it may be?

Because the filesystem is likely FAT/FAT32 (removable disk?), and a quick format has been done.. The file chains are now scrambled. Hence the scrambled images. You need more sophisticated software or professional help.

The file system is NTFS from Windows 7 and 8. Suggestions on image recovery software. Images were jpg, gif, bmp, psd, tif.

so the file system wasn't FAT but the suggestion put forward by @Keatah still holds.

looks like you have damaged (at some level) files. Otherwise the recovered data would display those images for you.

what image viewers have you tried?

have you tried other files?

Normal or Deep scan? Did you have Scan for Non-Deleted Files checked?
