When i try to uninstall ie9 from windows update I get this error message: not all of the updates were successfully uninstalled. I have tried everything to fix this but nothing works. I don't want to reformat my hard drive and reinstall windows 7 to fix this but I don't know what else to do. Anyone else ever had this problem and fixed it without reinstalling windows again?
Have you by chance ever used in CCleaner:
Cleaner > Advanced > Hotfix Uninstallers
If so that "could be the issue".
Edit:
Here's a search I did: remove ie9
if you want to "remove" IE you have to add/remove windows components (windows features on Windows 7)

It wont actually "remove" IE it will just downgrade it. IE is just an interface for a part of the windows engine called trident.
Or you may have to make sure you have selected 'view installed updates' in Programs and Features and uninstall it from there.
See here for different ways and discussion.
My experience with removing IE as a windows component is it disappearing, then readding it will return the version windows shipped with (6 for windows xp, etc)
or thinking from left field, maybe reinstall IE9 , reboot, then try un-installing again.
that should fix any problems with the current install, at least enough to allow you to remove it.
DON"T remove through CC, best go the way @Winapp2.ini suggests for Win7; Start, Control Panel, Programs & Features, View Installed Updates, in the Microsoft Windows are you should find IE9.
Reboot and that will finish the install of IE8.
