IE Url's not being deleted

Heya, I'm new to the forums; in fact, I just got CCleaner about 10 min. ago :).

However, I have a problem with the URLs that I have visted in the past not being deleted. Most delete just fine when I use "Clear History" as well as CCLeaner's history clearing ability, but some websites still appear.

This is what I mean.

I know I'm new to the forums, so I tried to use the search feature but it was futile for me :( (Unless I really suck at searching).

Anyone know what could be the problem? It's really annoying because, for example in the picture, that was an old URL that I used to visit some forums; the forums moved to a different URL name and so now I use the new website; however, the old one (seen in the pic.) remains; it's really annoying.

As I've said, 90% or so of the URL's properly get deleted when I use "Clear History" and whatnot but some sites like the above just won't delete.

Any suggestions? Sorry if this has been asked many times before; I honestly couldn't find it mentioned on the site, especially since I don't know exactly what to call this problem (therefore searching was difficult).

Thanks in advance!

Go to:

Start>All programs> Accessories>System Tools> Disk Clean up

Select your C drive and press ok.

Under the disk clean up tab see make sure temporary internet files is checked and press ok.

Let us know if they are gone.

Thanks for the quick reply!!

I did as you mentioned; however, the URL's still pop up when I start typing them.. www...etc.

Should I check the other boxes in the Disk CLean Up besides just "Temp Internet Files"?

If you're comfortable editing the registry, go to HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\TypedURLs and delete the problem URLs.

Great! It looks like I got it finally. It seems like I just needed to restart the computer for some reason. Thanks rridgely.

And thanks Glenn for that information too; I'll keep that in mind in case if the problem persists, but everything looks okay so far :).

Happy to hear you figured it out. :)

CCleaner should be able to clean IE from now on so let us know if you have any problems with it in the future.
