I have Vista Home Premium and am running CCleaner 1.40.520
When I run cleaner from a user account that didn't install CCleaner (but an Admin user) either as normal or 'As Administrator' my IE history is not deleted.
Sometimes it says under the Details of files deleted
Marked for deletion c:/....blah..blah../IE5/History.. etc. (weird as I'm running IE7)
But the history isn't deleted anyway.
I've now established that if I disable User Account Control, IE history disappears, but when I re-enable UAC, the history comes back from nowhere!!!
What the h*ll is going on?
How can I make CCleaner work with Vista?
Thanks.
I have a strange workaround cleaning my Vista Home Premium IE 7 history with CCleaner. It works about 80% of the time but I don't have the slightest idea why.... (NOTE: I run CCleaner in XP2 mode and as adminstrator)
Keep open CCleaner and keep IE 7 open AT THE SAME TIME. Lock the "favorites" column on the left side in the stay open modein IE7 (Click on the star, them press "pin the favorites" button. Then Select "View history". With this open and locked, click on CCleaner and run as normal, leaving the IE7 window open. Most of the time you will see as CCleaner runs the history "column" flicker and vanish.
Now, why does this work ???
I have the same problem with vista and UAC activated! the history doesn't clean!!
Any solution?
Thanks
Yea, I have to apoligize. I thought I had it, but the history is still there. Guess I oopsed !!
You can still manually delete the info through "Tools" - "Internet Options"-"Delete internet history". It's just not as secure.
