I7 Quad Core not listed

Recently I went into my current Speccy program (v1.28.7090 64 bit). I noticed it showed my Quad Core processer with only one core, and a listing for the same. I seem to remember it showing different in the past. Am I wrong?

you are right, the i7-950, as shown here; http://ark.intel.com/products/37150/Intel-Core-i7-950-Processor-8M-Cache-3_06-GHz-4_80-GTs-Intel-QPI should have 4 cores, 8 threads.

as you may personally know, or also may know from other reported problems with Speccy in this thread, it's not always 100% reliable with what it reports.

but, personally, I don't think that's any faulty with Speccy, more with WMI and how the two interact.

Thanks mta. I use to have it right. Maybe a problem in a recent update?

if it used to get it right, then I agree, a later version of Speccy may be the first thing to eliminate.

previous versions are readily available from FileHippo.

another thing to try, (solely based on another current problem with Speccy and CPU-Z 64bit versions) - go into Program Files, Speccy folder and rename the 64bit .exe file to whatever you like.

that way when Speccy runs and detects your 64bit PC, it won't be able to run it's matching 64bit version and will just use the 32bit .exe

worth a shot...

mta, I couldn't find any older versions of Speccy @ FileHippo. Maybe I just don't know how to search?

try this.

go to FileHippo and type speccy in the search box.

it should find one result.

click on the Speccy 1.28.709 result (which you'll notice is a hpyerlink) DON'T click the Download green button.

then over on the right you'll see Older Versions.

(of course I could have provided you with that link - but you would have never learnt how to do it yourself now :P )

Cool Thanks mta.
