i think i broke vdownloader

i had vdownloader installed on my computer and i uninstalled it with ccleaner because it stopped working. (youtube changed the HTML on their page)i have recently installed a newer version that works on other computers, but i get a strange error message on this computer:

VDownloader.exe - ŸŸerl\site\bin;C:\Perl\bin;C:\PROGRA~1\Fiery\APPLIC~1\COMMON~1\EFI;C:\PROGRA~1\COMMON~1\EFI;C:\PROGRA~1\Fiery\COMMAN~1\plugins;C:\WINDOWS\system32;C:\WINDOWS;C:\WINDOWS\System32\Wbem;C:\Program Files\Wave Systems Corp\Dell Preboot Manager\Access Client\

i also attached a screen shot of the error message

this is all in the title of the message box and not in the body. the error message changes everytime i uninstall and reinstall the vdownloader.

ive uninstalled and reinstalled this on other computers using add/remove programs, and this has not happened. im not sure if this is ccleaner or the vdownloader that is messing up so i posted in this forum and also sent an email with a link to here to the vdownloader people (they dont have a forum).

(EDIT)also, when i uninstall, there is a message that says "all items could not be removed, these can be removed manually"

when i check the only file left is IssProc.dlll in C:\program files\vdownloader\

(END EDIT)

any ideas? or am i kinda screwed?

oh heres comp specs if it makes a difference.

CCleaner is not properly an uninstaller, a specific tool is REVO

you have to shutdown and restart the system to be able to delete a *.dll that is active

ive done that, but i still get the error message. i am at a complete loss here.

i also attached a screen shot of the error message

I cannot see that.

Issproc.dll is from Inno setup I believe (Andavari may see this and comment as he knows more about this sort of thing than I do)

Perhaps there is something left from the uninstall which gets flagged by the installer when you try to put it back on.

Do you try to install it from the desktop?

Do you use ccleaner before you have rebooted? I ask in case the installer needs temp files to properly install and ccleaner has cleaned them.

Just thoughts until someone posts with some more ideas.

I found this info about that Inno Setup DLL "Issproc.dll", but have never encountered it myself in all the many years of using Inno Setup and that DLL isn't on my system.

here is the screen shot. @Captain Spectacular, thank for that, im going to submit a question to them as well. i got an email back from the vdownloader people, they just asked me to submit an error report, so i did that.

@try to stay calm

from what i can tell, the IssProc.dll is the only thing left, but im not sure if it adds any registry

entries.

EDIT:i checked the registry and found 2 keys, (i didnt check locations before i deleted them dammit) but i deleted them and still no dice. same error message

yes, and from a flash drive and a network folder

i hhavent used it since this happened. but i ran it while vdownloader was installed, and then i got the error. something similer happened to "roxio media creator dell edition". it would give 3 error messages everytime it closed, but i uninstalled it and put roxio 9 and the problem was solved

In it's earliest beta days (before version 1), Vdownloader was a pretty clean program with an exe file that could be easily unpacked. Even later versions unpacked with ease. They're now using a version of Inno Setup that's more difficult to extract.

According to the Installer's Hall of Shame, it now comes with the Ask Toolbar and an ebay shortcut.

it does come with that stuff. it came with the ask bar for as long as i can remember, but its freeware, dudes gotta get paid. except now that youtube changed the html on their page, it blocks downloads for videos that have embedding dis-abled. vdownloader has a paid version of the program it tells you about when you try to download these videos: "Embedding of this video has been dis-abled by the uploader and cannot be downloaded. Vdownloader can bypass this if you upgrade to the full version."
