How to Remove obsolete applications

I have uninstalled several old apps. that still appear under the Applications tab on CCleaner (latest version).

Is there a way I can get rid of these obsolete entries?

I have seen how to add entries and when I added winapp2.ini everything listed twice.

I put a dummy (blank) portable.dat file in CCleaner's directory to force it to use the ccleaner.ini file.

But, yet have not found a way to get rid of obsolete entries on the Applications tab.

There must be a way and I am hoping someone can point me in the right direction.

Thanks in advance!

Download the Embedded ini files from this thread

open WinApp.ini in a text editor

Search for your program (Ctrl+F)

open regedit and remove the keys listed under Detect=

Another ides could be to search the homepages where the old apps came from. Many of them have special uninstallers that one can use to get rid of remains. Most firewalls and other anti-malware programs have such extra uninstallers. Also a manual search and delete with hidden files, folders, system files set to visible is often advisable.
