I used to know a way to set Firefox to download EXE filetypes automatically, but that has been years ago, & I have forgotten if it was a setting in the older Firefox versions, or if I used some .xpi add-on to accomplish this.
Does anyone know a way to change it?
I will save me a lot of work.
Thanks!
You can just select "Automatically do this for files of this type from now on" for most file types, but I don't think you can for exe
Not a good ideal security-wise especially if ever visiting an exploit/malware site, etc., and if looking for some XPI plugin to do it wouldn't be wise either especially if it had the ability to auto-launch the .exe.
I have all my stuff backed up.
My understanding is, though, that even if a malware were to be able to download, that with Firefox, it would still require a user to click it to run it.
With Internet Explorer, not only can they download just by visiting a rogue website, but they can automatically install/change/delete/root your computer.
I do not think this is a danger with Firefox. The malware may download, but it still cannot execute.
