Yes and no. A *.gid file is produced by the old Windows *.hlp file it retains certain info about the help file, position, size etc. If you delete all your *.gid files then the next time you open a *.hlp file or an application opens one it will produce another gid file.

I have a login ID and it takes me to the topic that is discussed about liutilities.com because I asked him to remove it from his HOSTS file because I wanted to look at what was there but he declined because of the bogus information it provides.
