Why does this sound vaguely familiar to me? I've had moments where my blinking cursor line (to add text) has disappeared but I am still able to type & post. And I have seen a +1 somewhere before...maybe in the browser tab?
It's as if focus is taken away from the reply window after viewing the attachment. Sometimes pressing the space bar and moving cursor on and confirming with a left-click gets focus back.

Several times over the last year or maybe two I've had Firefox completely unwilling to type in a post for upwards of 1 to 2 minutes before, and of course it's usually when trying to help someone with some detailed instructions. I always thought it was some slow acting up JavaScript issue, and it has happened when posting on the community forum and in PM's.
I've had exactly that same effect Richard, with the +1 indicator in the same location.
I think I just reloaded the page to get around it, but the first thought I had was that selfsame +1 button has appeared recently on the end of google search entries, I think I was having a look at a new type of search. Google+ I think it's called, and the +1 is to share search links friends.
That's a bit vague, but the +1 isn't there normally, and it isn't now as I opted out of using it, but it's a bit much of a coincidence for it to be the exact button that appears in our messenger window.
