Formatted Hard Drive

I need to know if Recuva can recover anything from a Laptop HDD that was re-formatted?

I put the drive in an external HDD USB drive, connected to my Desktop, but no Drive letter shows up; neither on the Desktop nor in the Recuva Drive List, am I just out of luck???

Recuva doesn't currently restore files from drives that have been reformatted, but it's something we are looking at so it might appear in a later version.
