Flashing Bios

I bought a used motherboard [ASUS A8V Deluxe]. the bios version was 1005. the ASUS site lists versions 1005 to 1017, with the biggest one being ver 1015. should i flash every version up to ver 1017 or flash the biggest one, or just the latest one?

is the updating like a sp where the last sp has all the info of the previous sp's? thanks. mal

Get the newest one! There's absolutely no need whatsoever to use all those that are inbetween what you have and the newest one.

Flashing the BIOS can be risky business and dangerous, so make certain you're only using an official update from the official manufacturer website.

You should always use the latest. However, as Andavari said, flashingn the BIOS is risky, if you do it wrong or something happends that shouldnt, then maybe you flash with the wrong BIOS firmware or your BIOS gets corrupted, then your motherboard wont work anymore.

Before you try flashing, you should know what you are doing.

What they said ... but also, ASUS used to (and still may) require that you change a jumper setting to allow writing to the BIOS. Check your manual (or their website) and make sure you know what to do.

Thank you for your replies. i flashed the latest one. went ok. the latest update is not the biggest file- a poser. thanks again, mal
