First Look Pro program files being removed by Ccleaner

We have several computers with the First Look Pro program and after installing CCleaner the First look pro program needed to be reinstalled and the install takes a lot of time.

Is there a patch or workaround so the CCleaner program can be used or are the users out of luck ?

You can use CCleaner's Exclude feature for the while, although I don't know if it will ever be ignored by default without you having to manually input exclusions.

  1. How to set proper exclusions:

  2. Start CCleaner.
  3. Click Options->Exclude.
  4. Click Add Folder, now browse to the installation directory of First Look Pro.

Note: If there are any hidden Application Data folders hidden away inside of User Profile folders exclude those too.

  5. Minimize CCleaner. Now find the registry settings location by clicking Start->Run->Type in RegEdit

Write down that registry location, then close RegEdit.

Typically registry settings for programs are stored in one or two locations, those being:

    HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software

    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software

  6. Now go back to CCleaner and click Add Registry, and input the registry location(s) you wrote down.

Two examples, these are complete guesses, you’ll need to find the actual location(s):

    HKCU\Software\First Look Pro

    HKLM\Software\First Look Pro

Screenshot example of what it may look like when inputting into CCleaner (note that the OK button is only available if the registry location exists on your machine):

    QyOc8.png

  7. Now in CCleaner click Options->Advanced, and place a tick in Save all settings to INI file.

This takes the settings out of the registry and places them in a physical file on the hard disk named ccleaner.ini. Doing this means you’ll never have to input the exclusions again so long as you keep a backup copy of ccleaner.ini.

The CCleaner settings will now be stored in:

    C:\Program Files\CCleaner\ccleaner.ini
