FIREFOX SHORTCUTS

After using CCLEANER for the first time the Firefox shortcuts on the desk top wont open, I get a Windows request to select a program, when I select Firefox and Always use this program, the shortcut opens. Next time I try it does the same. When I create a new shortcut to a Firefox page the same thing happens.

Can any one help?

Are you using the Registry Section of CCleaner? or just the cleaner section

Just the cleaner section I haven't been game to try anything else after this problem.

Hi bn, I can't think of anything that might have caused it, but do you have System Restore enable on your computer? You might restore to a point before you ran CCleaner and see if that fixes it.

I tried that as I have plenty of restore points, but Windows said it failed for every one I tried.

I've read that you may have better success using Safe Mode. It's worth a try. :)

BTW, I keep only five points anymore. I figure if I can't succeed with five there's no way a sixth or more will succeed -- and going back too far may open a can of worms and complicate matters.

Sorry, still the same in safe mode.

What is your operating system?

If you right click on the FF desktop shortcut and choose properties does it show the target as being correct (e.g. C\program files etc?)

Did you install FF as another user?

If you are using XP perhaps try the .Lnk file association fix listed here

Sorry, I'm using XP SP3.

The properties of the shortcuts are the same as my wife's computer, which is working correctly.

I didn't install as another user.

The link file didn't work.
