I was just wondering if the FireFox is worth getting. I don't use firefox but one of my freinds still does and i was thinking of recemending to him. How much does it really do and does it make start up much slower/take up lots of reasources
I use it and it does take a good deal of resources the longer the program is loaded. If its worth it or not is up to you, I think it deffinately is. How much ram does your friend have?
lol i don't even think over 500.
but on a computer like mine will 1.25gb would it be ok?
It is deffinately fine on your pc but I personally wouldnt use it on your friends.
i prefer Avant Browser over Firefox for a bunch of reasons
No one cares.
I use to think maxthon was better than firefox (because it was better than the early releases of firefox) but now firefox is much better. Its fast, stable, and secure.
fast, hell no. Avant Browser loads faster for me. and browsing it also faster(i have tested this at least 5 times).
stable, hell no. Most of the time when im browsing, Firefox crashes when i browse some website that has trouble loading.
secure, a little bit. the only thing secure about it is that it has no ActiveX support while Avant has the option to disable activex when im not using a ActiveX enabled website. when i am, just uncheck it and use ActiveX. very simple
Have you tweaked firefox with chromedit? Also the preloader makes it load faster than anything.
for the second time. yes i have. Avant STILL loads faster
i using both firefox and avant...
I just did a clean install of Firefox yesterday and redid everything. My Firefox flies even faster, as I discovered some ChromEdit tweaks were not automatically applying.
I'm trying out the new Firefox version 1.5 Beta 1. It still has a few minor issues to be resolved, but it is fast!
I wouldn't mess with Preloader, it's not worth the trouble it can cause.

I am currently using firefox (1.0.7) an what is this chromedit ur on about?
An extension that allows you to add/edit your prefs/user.js files.
Sounds good i guess
I would recommend the free browser Opera.
When you try Opera you should read this: 30 Days to becoming an Opera8 Lover.
Here is a browser speed test / comparision.

Secure?! I don't think so. Now there is more security flaws discovered in firefox than in IE! Personally I have nothing against any software but don't say secure if you first don't check Secunia for example (3 vulnerabilities not fixed in FF now).
I don't use FF cause installation of those extensions drives me crazy. Especially when it comes out that they're not compatible with FF although they should be
I use Opera - cause it's fast, stable and secure. But - who cares?!
